Some of our best counselors work with teenagers due to their complicated and challenging nature. Adolescence is a time of great change for the child and many teens and parents find therapy beneficial in helping navigate these difficult years. Our teen counselors have the unique ability to really connect with the clients. The first sessions will be spent developing trust and confidence with the client so that the teen will feel comfortable talking about their problems. The first session will generally involve a combination of the teen and the parent(s). After that, the therapist will meet mostly with the teen by themselves, but may request for a parent to be present from time to time as needed. The parent can also request to speak to the therapist during the session time as needed. Confidentiality is critical as the teen builds trust, so the therapist will keep parents in the loop about the general progress of therapy but not the details of everything discussed in therapy.
