Counseling Services

Counseling services are services that apply therapeutic processes to personal, family, situational, or other problem areas. The purpose of counseling is to help improve individual or family functioning, improve the clients circumstances or to otherwise have a positive resolution of the problem.

Counseling vs Therapy
The terms "counseling" and "therapy" have different meanings, but are often used to describe the same activity. Both counseling and therapy involve talking with a trained licensed professional who is licensed by the state in which they work and are trained to help individuals to have healthier, happier and more fulling lives.

What does a therapy session look like?

Therapy is very individualized, so it will look a little different for each person and situation. But you will meet with a therapist either individually or with other family members to help you improve or resolve the issues that you are struggling with. Sessions will last approximately 50 - 55 minutes.

Do I have to be "sick" or "disturbed" to see a therapist?

No. While some of our clients do have severe emotional disturbances, many of our clients work through everyday challenges such as overcoming a bout of depression, strengthening stress management skills, or navigating difficult circumstances such as a divorce. Psychotherapists can serve a wide range of clients with a range of needs and goals. In fact, many of our clients are high-achieving people who are quite healthy, overall. Most are challenged by a specific, personal goal such as feeling anxious about a difficult or new situation, creating more work-life balance, strengthening relationships, finding ways to parent more effectively, or improving the behavior of a child. No matter what the issue, our counselors are here to help!
